OCMC is a student-focused learning experience that provides participants the ability to demonstrate their essential, vocational, and employability skills before industry professionals. OCMC serves as a stepping-stone from academia to industry by creating real world experiences and networking opportunities.
After well over 30 years, the Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition (OCMC) continues to bring hundreds of highly motivated business students and dynamic faculty together to showcase their business talents and earn top awards for teamwork and strategic thinking. This prestigious competition is hosted annually by a different Ontario college and is driven as a student-centered event with volunteer faculty providing organizational assistance. The OCMC provides students with an extremely valuable learning experience and is funded annually by corporate sponsors, the host college, and registration fees. (ocmc.ca)
Goal
Utilize population and consumer data given by Environics Analytics to create effective marketing solutions that drive sales and awareness for a small beekeeping business located in Southern Ontario.
Approach
After a comprehensive SWOT analysis, devise three potential solutions to drive awareness and sales for the entrepreneur’s business. All solutions are well thought out campaigns across different channels, with approximate timeline and budget costs that vary. With multiple options, this allows the business owner to decide what works best for his business model.
Achievements
- Successfully put together a presentation deck analyzing the marketing problem, landscape and solutions within 30 minutes.
- Confidently offer three viable marketing solutions that drive awareness and sales to a panel of judges which included the business owner and an Environics Analytics representative.
- Able to command the room in a friendly and professional manner while answering any questions and concerns regarding the marketing solutions.
- Team Seneca placed 1st overall for the second consecutive year.
